Clinician Research Fellowships
The Clinician Research Fellowships program is now open for applications.
The Clinician Research Fellowships program is an initiative of the Department of Health in conjunction with the Raine Medical Research Foundation.
The program is designed to encourage clinicians employed by WA Health to become more involved in health and medical research while continuing some clinical duties. The research must be undertaken in WA and be of direct relevance to WA Health. These awards have the support of the Western Australian Health Translation Network (WAHTN) in promoting research excellence and translation in WA.
Clinicians with minimal or no paid research time, are encouraged to apply.
Fellowships will be made available to early- and mid-career researchers (up to eight years’ research experience). Fellowship funding will provide salary support for research duties up to 0.5 FTE, as well as contribute to minor research costs. The duration of each Fellowship can be up to 3 years, depending on the extent of the research proposal. During the Fellowship period, clinical duties within WA Health must be retained at a minimum of 0.3 FTE.
Clinicians are health professionals, such as a medical practitioner, psychologist, physiotherapist, pathologist, nurse or midwife, involved in clinical duties.
The Nursing and Midwifery Office, Department of Health has contributed additional funds towards Fellowships for nurses and midwives.
