SUMMARY:WAHTN Clinical Trial Forum : Research and Clinical Trials in General Practice
DESCRIPTION:Our main speaker will be Prof Chris Reid from Curtin University who is a Principal Investigator on several cardiovascular clinical trials that recruit through General Practice.  Prof Reid will present the ASPREE study which has just been announced as the winner of the 2019 Clinical Trial of the Year award by ACTA. The ASPREE Trial  looked at the efficacy of people 70 and above taking aspirin daily in preventing age-related illness including heart attack and dementia. \nThe Health systems and Health Economics group will be presenting on their research activity with primary care and general practice.  Through their research and development activity the group aim to generate an evidence base that supports the strengthening of primary care and general practice as the cornerstone of Australian health system. \nPresenters include:\nProfessor Suzanne Robinson who will provide an overview of the team and the research and capacity building activity\nMitchell Sarkies presenting on the Belmont initiative- a quality improvement project for primary care management of chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease\nRichard Varhol  presenting on his work supporting GP with data analytics for use to inform business intelligence and quality patient care \nLOCATION:  Curtin University Building 108\, Room 118\nDate: Monday 27th May 2019\nTime: 4:30 pm for a 5pm start\nCOST: Free\nLight refreshments will be available. \nVisitors to Curtin University may park for free after 4:30 pm in Blue\, Yellow or Green Zones. \nTo register for the forum please click on the URL below\nhttps://www.trybooking.com/book/event \nBookings are not essential but are preferred.
