DESCRIPTION:The Lions Eye Institute (LEI) will share important developments in research into vision loss and blindness during the inaugural LEI Research Week. \nLEI Research Week will comprise a series of free events\, including: \n\nEye health and research lectures for the community: McCusker Auditorium\, Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research\, 6 Verdun St Nedlands\, 10am – 4pm\, Tuesday 22nd October.\nThe Ian Constable Lecture: University Club UWA\, 7pm – 8pm\, Thursday 24th October.\nSensory Science – An LEI Exhibition to Stimulate the Senses: IQX UWA\, 8 Broadway\, Crawley\, 11am – 3pm\, Saturday 26th October.\n\nVisit the LEI website for further information about each event and to book your place. \nAll events are free\, however\, booking is essential.

DESCRIPTION:Curtin University’s Centre for Data Linkage is running a short 1 day introductory workshop on Data Linkage. This is an introductory course that will expose participants to some of the technical aspects of data linkage\, including: \n\nDifferent methodologies of linkage (deterministic\, probabilistic\, SLK)\,\nDifferent grouping strategies\,\nErrors in data linkage (types & how to measure them)\,\n“Wicked problems” in linkage\, and\nEmerging methods (privacy-preserving linkage).\n\nThe workshop assumes no prior knowledge of the subject matter. \nPlease contact Associate Professor Anna Ferrante on 9266 9455 or a.ferrante@curtin.edu.au if you would like to know more about this workshop or to register.
