SUMMARY:The Implementation Science Symposium
DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to the inaugural WAHTN Implementation Science Symposium as part of the WAHTN Implementation Science Platform. You can find out more about the WAHTN Implementation Science Platform here. \n\nThe Implementation Science Symposium is a free event. \n\nRegistrations via Trybooking\, available here. \n\nMORNING SESSION 9:30 – 12 noon\nThe morning features a welcome and high-level overview of the state of Implementation Science in Western Australia\, presented by WAHTN Chair Professor Steve Webb\, followed by case study presentations of local implementation science practice success stories. Case studies presented will be from varying stages of the implementation pipeline\, and will provide an opportunity for audiences to dive deeper into the ‘how’ of implementation science\, learning from shared experiences. A panel session will then enable discussion of the case studies. Presentations and panel have in-person and livestream options. \nFollowing the morning session\, lunch and networking will be available in the Harry Perkins Foyer. \nAFTERNOON SESSION 1 – 3pm\nDiscover how to successfully implement evidence-based programs\, policies\, and practices into health care. This interactive workshop provides a practical introduction to implementation science\, by introducing the strategies to support you in moving the research into the real-world. Learn how to plan\, adapt\, and sustain approaches that create meaningful\, lasting impact across clinical and community settings. It will be facilitated by Professor Sara Bayes\, Dr Lauren Fortington\, and Dr Mary Kennedy of the ECU Implementation Café. \nThe afternoon workshop will begin at 1pm\, and is open to attendees from WAHTN Partner organisations. You can find out more about WAHTN Partners here. Workshop is in-person only\, limited to 30 places. \nThe Workshop session will be hosted on the 6th floor of Harry Perkins. Please ensure you sign in as a visitor to the Perkins building (at the concierge desk) prior to the session. \n  \nVenue: McCusker Auditorium\, at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research\, 6 Verdun St Nedlands WA (QEII Campus) \n\n\nContact Details: info@wahtn.org

SUMMARY:WAHTN CTEP-WA Clinical Trials Forum
DESCRIPTION:The WA Clinical Trials Forum is a new initiative of the WAHTN Clinical Trials Enabling Platform-WA (CTEP-WA) to help support a thriving clinical trials ecosystem in WA by bringing together clinicians and researchers to strengthen the design of clinical trials. \nWednesday 7 October 2026 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM \nRepurposing Probucol for Childhood Dementia: A Phase II Feasibility Study \nChildhood dementia encompasses a group of rare\, progressive neurodegenerative disorders that collectively affect more than 100 genetic conditions\, with no approved disease-modifying therapies for most children. We propose a 52-week\, investigator-initiated\, open-label Phase II feasibility study evaluating oral probucol in children with genetically confirmed Batten disease\, Niemann-Pick disease type C\, Sanfilippo syndrome (MPS III) or Leigh syndrome. The primary objectives are to establish the feasibility of recruitment and retention\, treatment adherence and the safety and tolerability of long-term probucol administration in this population\, while collecting preliminary clinical\, functional and biomarker data to inform future controlled studies. \nDoors will open with light refreshments provided at 4:15pm\, with the presentation and panel starting at 4:30\, ending with a networking session to 6pm. \nVenue: McCusker Auditorium\, at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research\, 6 Verdun St Nedlands WA (QEII Campus) \nThe forum will open at 4:15\, with the presentation and panel starting at 4:30. The day will end with a networking session to 6pm. Light refreshments provided. \nOnline: An online livestream option is available for those who cannot attend in person. Select the ‘Online’ ticket type using the registration link above. \nYou can find out more about the event and register here: https://www.trybooking.com/DNAYR
