DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to a WACRA Symposium Day with invited international guest Professor Cathy Shanahan (King’s College London\, UK) and key WA Cardiovascular researchers. \nProfessor Cathy Shanahan was educated in Australian and obtained a PhD in Genetics from the University of Adelaide. She began research in the field of cardiovascular medicine in the Biochemistry Department at the University of Cambridge\, UK. From 1995-2004\, she was a British Heart Foundation Lecturer and in 2005 became a BHF Senior Fellow in the Department of Medicine\, University of Cambridge. In 2007 she left Cambridge to take up the Chair of Cellular Signalling in the School of Cardiovascular Medicine and Sciences at King’s College London. She is currently Theme Lead for Vascular Biology and Vice-Dean of Development\, Diversity and Inclusion for the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine. \nThis free event also includes Workshop and Q&A session on Collaborative Opportunities (The University of Edinburgh)\, a Sundowner and Networking session from 5pm. DESCRIPTION:A Discussion Paper on the Data Sharing and Release (DS&R) legislation is now open for public comment until Tuesday 15 October 2019. The Office of the National Data Commissioner is hosting a roundtable series during September and October 2019 on the Discussion Paper. You can find out more and make a submission through the website. \nEach session will go for two hours and seek your views on: \n\nThe purposes for sharing data\, including data sharing for commercial purposes.\nThe Data Sharing Principles and risk management\, including privacy risks and consent.\nGuidance materials\, including the Best Practice Guide to Applying Data Sharing Principles.\nHow the DS&R Framework could work for different users in practice.\nThe role of the National Data Commissioner.\nAccreditation principles and criteria.\nHigher standards of protections for sensitive data.\nAdequacy of proposed transparency and accountability mechanisms.\nMethods for dealing with complaints\, redress options and review rights.\nEnforcement and penalties.\n\nFor more information and to register for a roundtable in your state\, please visit the website. \nIf your preferred roundtable session is booked out\, please add yourself to the waitlist for that session. The waitlisted participants will be contacted if places become available. \nA webinar will be held for those who are unable to meet face to face\, where your pre-submitted questions can be answered by the panel.
