SUMMARY:PHRN Linkage Luminaries Webinar Series - Professor David Preen
DESCRIPTION:The Population Health Research Network is hosting its fourth webinar for 2021 in the “Linkage Luminaries” series with Professor David Preen\, Chair in Public Health\, UWA School of Population and Global Health. \nProfessor Preen was the Director of the UWA Centre for Health Services Research from 2006 to 2015 and has been involved in conducting public health and health services research using population-based linked data for almost 15 years. \nHis study areas include: cancer service delivery\, pharmaco-epidemiology\, chronic disease management\, morbidity of marginalised populations and methodological advances using medical record linkage. \nProfessor Preen has an established national and international reputation as a leading linked data researcher working at the evidence/policy/practice interface to improve community health and healthcare policy. His research program\, combined with a strong evidence policy translation focus\, is working to improve health\, social and economic outcomes for vulnerable populations. \nProfessor Preen’s current role as UWA Chair in Public Health aims to bridge the divide between the academic research sector and government and industry. The aim is to increase the uptake of empirical research evidence in policy decision making\, thereby enhancing evidence-based policy. Today his research into public health\, medicine usage and healthcare delivery is not only helping Western Australian families\, but citizens from across Australia and around the globe to live happier and healthier lives.
