The aim of the workshop is to bring together international and Australian experts to explore and discuss the topic of reducing, through screening, the effects of genetic diseases in Australia. Workshop sessions will discuss Australian screening programs, and explore perspectives from health economists, laboratories, and patients.
The day will also feature international perspectives on preconception carrier screening, and a Q&A session, with Phillis Lakeman (Academic Medical Center, Netherlands) and Irene van Langen (Department of Genetics, University Medical Center Groningen, University of Groningen, Netherlands).
